Green Tea

Green Tea is so good for you that even the top doctors and researchers rave about it.  A few of the amazing benefits of green tea include lowering cholesterol, improving blood flow, and it can help prevent a multitude of heart-related issues, and what is good for your heart is also usually good or your brain (2). Some studies even show that the active ingredient in green tea, EGCG, may help you drop a few pounds (2). It is the main antioxidant in tea and it can inhibit an enzyme that breaks down the hormone norepinephrine (1). When that enzyme is prohibited, norepinephrine increases and encourages fat breakdown (1). Green tea also has about 24-40mg of caffeine, which is less than a cup of coffee but it is still a good amount for the stimulant aspect of that dosage of caffeine to encourage fat burning, even more so when tied in together with a light workout routine (1). With caffeine and EGCG working together, green tea is a great ingredient to encourage fat burn and weight loss (1).
